This is also proven by the companies&#8217; revenues, which grew by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gtai.de\/resource\/blob\/63756\/4165f3d3a347978cd72b1d7b36861b9a\/20210304_FS_Photonics_Web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>220% between 2005 and 2019<\/strong><\/a>, reaching \u20ac37.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>A record that sees international markets play a fundamental role, with around<strong> 70% of production destined for foreign countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The European Union leads the list of export destinations, followed by Asia and North America.<\/p>\n<p>The variety of applications offered by the photonics industry makes it now more than ever a key element of tomorrow&#8217;s economic growth, considering its centrality to the production models of Industry 4.0.<\/p>\n<p>The sector&#8217;s natural inclination towards innovation could be further boosted by the European Union&#8217;s current development plans, whose growth will increasingly be based on substantial <strong>investment in new technologies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario, companies are called upon to play their part.
